Kent Asbestos Solutions were requested by our client, Karrada, to provide a targeted asbestos refurbishment survey to allow them to safely install new air conditioning units to over 300 bedrooms and to build a new top floor on the roof which will consist of a brand new bar and restaurant.

The areas we had to survey for asbestos were the following:

• Ceiling voids of over 300 bedrooms
• Central corridor ceiling voids over 9 floors
• Risers over 9 floors
• The roof including 2No lift motor rooms
• Ground floor loading bay

The survey was conducted in normal working hours over the course of two weeks. With the assistance of housekeeping, we were able to be granted access to over 90% of the rooms in order to safely survey the ceiling voids. The rest will be captured in a second phase.

Following the asbestos survey, we communicated to the client all ACMs identified on site, and neccessary next steps  in order to safely proceed with their planned works.

With the hotel now equipped with the necessary information, they can now plan how to keep their contractors safe during the air conditioning upgrade.

Added bonus, we've been asked to provide them with an Asbestos Management Plan and to conduct their annual asbestos reinspections.
